Sebastien Tortelli - Two-time World MX Champion

In the small town of Agen, France, Two time World Champion Sebastien Tortelli was born to race.  At only 4 years old Sebastien received his first motorcycle for Christmas.  As the only child, he stayed out of trouble by riding his QR 50 around the farm while his parents worked.  His father built tracks for him on the farm and by the age of 6 he was winning races!

Currently a seasoned factory-sponsored rider, Tortelli has been ranked amongst the top in both AMA National and Supercross competitions, as well as the World based Motocross Grand Prix World Championships.

Tortelli began his early career racing the World Grand Prix Motocross Circuit and he made his winning debut in 1993.  He not only won the 1996 125cc FIM World Motocross Championship, but took the title in 1998 in Greece as the 250cc World Champion as well, beating the highest crowned World Champion of all time: Stefan Everts.  In 1999 Seb was sponsored by Team Factory Honda and claimed the 250cc National in San Bernardino, California.  He was leading the championship nearly all season long but an air to air collision with Doug Henry ended his season.

Over the next 5 years Tortelli rebounded and produced great results which included leading the outdoor season standings ahead of Ricky Carmichael.  He placed top 5 in both Supercross and Nationals and went on to sign with Team Factory Suzuki.  The Champ then signed with Team Factory KTM in 2007 and returned home to Europe where he took KTM's first World Title!

"For me, the best thing about Motocross is that you can express yourself through racing," Tortelli says. "I live for racing and winning; it has always been my drive. When the gate drops you are the only one in control. You are the one who makes the call, you are the one that pushes the limit, you are the one who corners and jumps.... you're the Man!"

Tortelli's hero is Jeff Ward.  When he was little he went to a race in Paris and saw Jeff Ward crash over a triple jump and despite the crash, Jeff got right up and bounced back to finish second behind Rick Johnson.

"Never quit." Tortelli says. "One point can make the difference and I won a world championship because of that spirit."

Tortelli has been coaching young riders, pro's, and vet's since 2007.  He is sharing his love for Motocross and gladly giving back from his 28 year racing experience. "Sharing my knowledge and my experiences is something that I love.  It gives me so much pleasure to see the difference in the way riders change after I coach them.  It's like night and day and that's most rewarding."

Tortelli wants all riders to know that he statyed in school through out his professional career and believes that education is the driving force for racing.  Not only does it provide proper principles, structure, and work ethic, it provides knowledge, and "Knowledge is Power."
